Cyclopentene is cycloalkene with the molecular formula of C₅H₈. It is an important monomer for Rubber and plastics and raw material for organic synthesis. It is used to make polycyclopentene rubber, and also used to make cyclopentylphenol (disinfectant), cycloaldehyde, cyclopentadiol, cyclopentane, cyclopentanone and other compounds. Cyclopentene can also be used as a solvent, gasoline additive, and extractant.
