Succinimide is a versatile cyclic imide with the formula C₄H₅NO₂. Besides being the precursor for N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS) and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS), it is often used in the synthesis of various compounds, such as agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, and polymer modifications. Succinimide has also been used in industrial silver plating processes and as oil additives.
