Ethylene Carbonate

Ethylene carbonate (EC) is a highly polar solvent and can be used as a high permittivity component of electrolytes in lithium batteries and lithium-ion batteries. EC has been used in many organic and polymer syntheses. Ethylene carbonate is also used as plasticizer and solvents for polymers. This product is colorless transparent liquid with a pungent odor. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
